During this special fall fund drive edition, we feature, live in the studio, Matt Lynch from Mauka Marketplace and Kalani Bright from Mana Studios, recent winners at the Purple Prize Kilo Hoku, and they’re here to tell us about their startups, the Purple Prize process and advancing indigenous knowledge.

During this special Fall Fund Drive edition, we have Dr. Kuʻulei Rogers Assistant Researcher from the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology, Paulo Maurin from the NOAA Coral Program and Alie Shea from the Division of Aquatic Resources here to tell us about new technologies to detect coral bleaching. To all our friends on Kauai, I want to share this great robotics training opportunity. The Kauai Robotics Alliance – KRA, have arranged for some professional trainers to come from FIRST Robotics, to present a two-day teacher professional development event, on teaching robotics and related project-based learner to all participants. The training is FREE to any Hawaii teachers (or anyone else, like scout leaders, home-schoolers and engaged parents). The training takes place on Friday (9/20) and Saturday (9/21) but you must sign up. To do so, visit kauairoboticsalliance.org for more information.
First off, the HiPlan business plan competition is open to individuals or groups (for-profit or non-profit) whose business plan focuses on developing startup or expanding a business based on Hawaii Island. The purpose of the Competition is to stimulate development of an entrepreneurial ecosystem on Hawaii Island. A grand prize of $25,000 in seed money will be awarded to the winning plan, 2019. Deadline to apply is Sept 7
Then we have Reynold Hioki here to talk about CyberPatriot Invitational and Capture the Flag competition. Finally, we have two companies, Ulu Mana and Kahulalea, currently in Mana Up‘s 4th cohort talk about what they do and their plans to take it to the next level.
First up, the Indigenous Technology Prototype Showcase is taking place on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Impact Hub. You will be able to check out 12 technology concepts creating value for our community and the Ê»Äina.
Then we have Sherrie Richman on the show to talk about XR and the XR Meetup Group. Finally, we have Anne Weber from the Impact Hub Honolulu to talk about coworking in Hawaii, how the space has evolved and Impact Hubʻs expansion plans.

Then, we have Mark Kimura and Chase Toyofuku-Souza from Oceanit to tell us about a program to introduce AI to high schools called the Aloha AI Network which consists of Raspberry Pi, Google Coral, and Google Firestore.
