Then, we are joined by Jodi Ito, Chief Information Security Officer at the University of Hawaii to talk about cybersecurity, the GenCyber program and upcoming summer camps.

First up, Dr. Rick Spinrad, President of the Marine Technology Society, will be in Honolulu this Thursday and Friday 10/17 &10/18. MTS is an international, not-for-profit, community of ocean engineers, technologists, policymakers and educators. The former Chief Scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, will be speaking at a dinner meeting at Rainbow Marina on Thursday at 5:30 pm. On Friday, he’ll be discussing the state of marine technology and the blue economy at a noon seminar sponsored by the School of Ocean and Earth Sciences and Technology and MTS in room 723 POST building at UH Manoa. We’ve invited Jake Ross and Mike Herr to fill us in.
Joining us today is Tiffini Hunt from Verizon to tell us about their recent mobile device survey. Then we have Sandy Park from the High Tech Development Corp to tell us about the annual Holiday Tech Fair.
Finally, we’ve invited Jodi Ito, Information Security Officer at UH and Motohiro Tsuchiya, visiting scholar at East West Center specializing in cyber security. We’ll talk about the growing concern over cyber attacks.
