This week weʻll jump right into our conversation about Digital Equity. We welcome Christina Higa, co-Director of the Pacific Basin Telehealth Resource Center, Brad Bennett, network coordinator at Kuauli Digital Opportunities and David Miyashiro, Executive Director at Hawaii Kids Can and they’re here to talk about digital equity, the Broadband Hui and eliminating the digital divide.
Then, we are joined by Christine Sakuda from Transform Hawaii Government and David Miyashiro from Hawaii Kids Can to talk about civic engagement, tech, computer science in education and the evolving political landscape.
First up, on May 30-31, NASA, along with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), is inviting coders, entrepreneurs, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, artists, and technologists to participate in a virtual hackathon. During a period of 48 hours, participants from around the world will create virtual teams and use Earth observation data to develop solutions to issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, Iris Ikeda from the Division of Financial Institutions – DCCA and Ellen Ng from HTDC to talk about the Digital Currency Innovation Lab and how you can test out your crypto currency idea in Hawaii.
