Episode 560: 12th Annual Geek Meet and Ê»Iolani’s Ala Wai CAT – May 22, 2019

First up, you’re invite to Bytes and Flights, the 2nd Annual Purple MaiÊ»a Fun-raiser, an evening of dinner and demos to benefit the growth of their educational programs for the 2019-20 school year. This takes place on Sun, May 26, 2019, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Bishop Museum, Great Lawn. Then Ryan Ozawa, uber Geek tells us about the 12th Annual Geek Meet.

Finally, we have the team from ‘Iolani School, Tessa Nishida – Project Manager, Victor Chang – Mechanical Lead, and Shane Matsushima – Programming Lead, tell us about the Ala Wai Catamaran and measuring the water quality in the Ala Wai. The Ala Wai Catamaran will be showcased on the 3rd Floor of the Sullivan Center for Innovation and Leadership at ‘Iolani School on May 23, 2019. Find details here.

Episode 559: Ecoponics and UH Innovation Center – May 15, 2019

First we start with a few announcements:

  • On Friday May 17th Purple MaiÊ»a haumāna (students) will showcase their project work at Hālau ʻĪnana from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM HST
  • Mana Up will host the Native Hawaiian female founders panel on Tuesday May 21st, 5-8pm at Hālau ʻĪnana, Meli James will moderate.
  • Finally, the Entrepreneurs Sandbox has their open house this week from 8am – 4:30pm. Also Wetware Wednesday on 5/22, featuring collaborative robots, 4:30pm to 7pm. You’ll have to attend to find out more.

Then Ame Arakaki, entrepreneur and inventor tells us about Ecoponics. Last but not least, we have Susan Yamada, Director of UH Ventures tell us about establishing the UH Innovation Hub/Center and progress with the Atherton YMCA renovations.
