Filmmaker Jeff Katts tells us about the upcoming ClaxtonFest 2016, finally Helen Cho is here to tell us about the Inaugural Launch of Honolulu Startup Grind. After the break, we talk to Robbie Melton, Meli James and Luke Tucker, leaders in the #startupParadise startup initiative, to discuss the challenges of startups growing their market in Hawaii and beyond.

First up, we cover the local tech calendar. Lindsea Wilbur from the Future Studies program at UH tells us about the next Tech4Good meetup. Then Matthew Romaine from the City & County of Honolulu’s Department of Emergency Management will tell us about an upcoming CERT refresher class. Finally, after the break, we look ahead to the commercial applications of unmanned aerial systems. Joining us is Ted Ralston and Mike Elliot from Drone Service Hawaii, and we’ll cover recent rule changes approved by the FAA allowing commercial use of drones.
