First off we check the local sci-tech calendar. Coming up on Friday, March 10 and Saturday, March 11, is the next AT&T Hackathon taking place at Sacred Hearts Academy. Then during Spring Break, March 20th through 24th, PCATT — the Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training — will be hosting a “Gencyber Student Spring Camp” at Honolulu Community College. Finally we get an update on the Aerospace initiative in Hawaii from UAV expert Ted Ralston, Jim Crisafulli from the Office of Aerospace Development and Henk Rogers, Chairman of PISCES.

Episode 407: Hawaii’s Aerospace Industry – June 15, 2016

We start off with some news from Apple WWDC and the E3 gaming industry, then hear about a couple of local tech events. Bob Richmond joins us to tell us about the International Coral Reef Symposium. Then Keith Higa is here from EARC to tell us about the annual ham radio Field Day. Finally, during our main segment, we find out about Hawaii’s nascent aerospace industry. Joining us by phone are UH Hilo Chancellor Don Straney and Jim Crisafulli, the State’s Director of the Office of Aerospace Development. In the studio we’ll have State Sen Will Espero and Pat Sullivan, President of Oceanit.
